Heavy monsoon rains caused severe flooding when the River Kosi broke its bank, affecting 3.4 million people in India, 2 million in Bangladesh and more than 50,000 in Nepal, late August 2008.

Temporary shelter camps have been erected in schools and community buildings across the three countries to cope with thousands of people fleeing their water-ravaged homes.

World Vision is providing urgent supplies including medicines, food and safe drinking water to the growing numbers of homeless children and families struggling to survive in the poor sanitary conditions brought on by the floods.
