Students celebrate during the reunion party organized by World Vision Cambodia.

More than 100 students gathered together at a new BHP’s (Bringing Hope Project) office on Saturday 19 January for a reunion party celebrated by World Vision Cambodia.

“I am very happy to join the party today. I met many former students from all batches - — from batch one to batch nine. We are pleased to see each other. Now many of us have jobs,” said former student Ong Kimlay.

The main purposes of the celebration were to expose people with disability to social events and to build relationships amongst BHP’s students from all batches including the new 2008 batch.

“It is the 1st ever event being celebrated. Basically we want all students to see and know each other. I hope all students enjoy today’s celebration,” said Hang Rasmey, BHP manager, during the event celebration.

After its considerable success throughout the last three years [from 2005 to 2007], BHP has been extended to another three years. In 2008, 15 students with disability will be granted scholarships to earn different skills at various universities and training centers, plus attend a personal development course which aims to develop their social behavior and attitudes.

During the celebration, games, a song contest, lucky draw, and dancing entertained the students. As well, each student was given a gift.

Kang Sreynon, a 19 year-old girl from the provinces, had never taken part in such a party before. She expressed her enthusiasm to join the celebration and see so many people with disabilities encouraged.

“After having learned Personal Development course for 6 weeks, I am more confident, courageous, and sociable. Today I won the first place in the song contest,” said Sreynon.
