Typhoon Ketsana left children and their families standing in a wake of destruction as it ravaged much of East Asia.

Extreme rain submerged 80% of the Philippine capital, affecting over 4.4 million people in Manila and neighbouring provinces. In Vietnam, landslides and flash floods killed 162 people. In Cambodia and Laos, hundreds of families lost household items and food stocks to rapidly rising flood waters.

Staff in each country immediately distributed lifesaving aid to more than 350,000 children and their families.

Across the region, World Vision is assisting to repair schools and homes, help parents replace lost livelihood tools and teaching children how to better protect themselves from disasters like floods, fires and earthquakes.
